TOURISM IN SRI LANKA TODAY

There has been a stable growth of the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is subsequent to the cessation of the three-decade-long war against L.T.T.E. terrorism in 2009.  The Sri Lankan governments have exerted efforts to develop sustainable tourism since then and as a result, the number of tourist arrivals was on the rise significantly.  Accordingly, the revenue earned by the tourist industry in 2018 was 362.70 million US Dollars.  Unfortunately, in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday extremists’ suicide attacks, the tourism industry in the country was hit hard.  Rumors which had wings spread every nook and corner of the world with unfavorable picture about Sri Lanka.  Some of them created a bugaboo among those who intended to travel the country, discouraging them.  Nevertheless, the armed forces who fought L.T.T.E., the worst terrorist group believed to be unbeatable were able to bring the matter under control forthwith.  Later, the investigations revealed that the suicide attacks were unsuccessful attempts made by an extremist group to terrorize the public life.  The security of the country is in the hands of the armed forces and the public was given an assurance of their safety.  Now, the normal life of the general public has been restored with the tense situation being faded away, Sri Lanka is safe once again.

The government has taken every possible step to provide the utmost security to the tourists and the tourist locations in the country. All-star class hotels in Colombo and other towns are under security surveillance round the clock.  There are positive signs of rising tourism along with the gradually increasing tourist visits.

We invite you to come and enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Sri Lanka. Contrary to rumors, the country is ‘as safe as houses’.  Taxi.lk eagerly waiting to offer you the best traveling experience in comfort with the highly professional staff.
